If you have normal color perception (i.e. you’re not colorblind) and your monitor can accurately display RGB, the two images shown above should appear different – a standard view on the left and a view with a darker blue on the right.

The image on the left represents a regular RGB color model, while the image on the right has been modified to reduce the blue light present using photo editing software.

Now, try looking at the image with your blue light filtering eyewear. If you have true blue light filtering eyewear, both images will appear almost identical with the glasses.

If you’re interested in finding some blue light glasses of your own to check out this blue light test, and try zFORT® blue light block when you buy eyewear at SmartBuyGlasses. All you need to do is add zFORT® during the checkout process.

Do you need a blue light block?

Studies have shown that when blue light rays reach a wavelength between 415 nm-455 nm, they can hit the retina and have a detrimental effect on vision.

More studies, like ones from Harvard Medical School and the University of Houston, suggest blue light blocking glasses are some of the best ways to counteract the effect of this short-wavelength light, and protect your eyes in the long term.
